Description

Developed in Pennsylvania Dutch country, Dutch Blitz is a card game that’s exciting to play and easy to learn. Perfect for family game nights, or to play with a group of good friends, you’ll enjoy spirited competition as you try to get rid of your 10-card Blitz pile before anybody else. Not as easy as it sounds, though, because players don’t take turns. You have to be the fastest to place your cards in sequence and in the same respective colors on the center Dutch piles while using as many cards from your Blitz Pile as possible. When your Blitz Pile has been exhausted, you’ve won. The original game includes four decks of 4 colorful playing cards and easy-to-follow instructions, while the expansion adds another four decks of different colors. Combine the packs to play with up to 8 players.

Even more fun!

So, what makes New Blue different? It’s simply a reinvention of the Classic Green boxed game that you know and love, with the colours of the four decks’ designs (carriage, bucket, pump and plow) switched to enable more players. Yes, it’s that simple and that awesome.

Dutch Blitz Original and Expansion Pack Set Card Game

So much family fun! Simple to learn, fast paced game. I do wish the cards were a bit more durable,

Our family of 7 has enjoyed Dutch Blitz for years, but we never could all play together. The extension pack lets us all go crazy. It’s a fast-paced, challenging but fun game that’s easy to go back to over and over.I just wish the company made a hard case since the boxes get worn out pretty quickly. We end storing our cards in Tupperware.

This game is easy to learn and is fun. It’s a lot like double solitare that I’ve played for years but it can be played with 8 people if you have the expansion pack. I thought it might be too complicated for my 9 year old grandsons but they said,” the box says for 8 and up” and they wanted to try it. They learned it easily and enjoyed it. They missed some plays since there is so much to check all at once but with experience they will get better and playing with other kids their age they all had fun.

We’re hooked!I was trying to find a new game that 2 people could play. Something not too complicated that could be played by two people who are overworked/overwhelmed, sleep deprived… who needs to find ways to take breaks from the normal day to day.To be completely honest, when I first read these instructions my super depleted brain couldn’t grasp it at all (and I’m a pretty smart, quick-learning person)! So, I decided we should “act out” the directions step by step with the cards as instructed. This made it all come into focus. We played 2 hands in a “non-competitive”, try-out to see how things would go. We very quickly became pros! There are a few unwritten “rules” or not clear rules that we figured out/decided for ourselves how to interpret and proceed. We play this similar to solitaire, meaning, if you go through the deck (cards in-hand that go into the “wood pile”) and at the end stack of in-hand cards you can only count 2 cards instead of the 3 your’e supposed to, you just flip the whole wood pile over – as normal – and take the 3rd card needed from the now top of the card pile in-hand, and continue on. (Act it out, it makes more sense! 🙂 )Also, the instructions say when playing with 2 people, you should have 5 cards in the post pile and when playing with more people, you use 3 cards in the post pile. However, we use 4 when playin with 2 people. 5cards made it too easy and 3 cards kept getting us stuck without playable cards/moves. 4 works out perfectly for us. Things of that nature. There’s other ways it can be modified to possibly make it more difficult/take longer, or just for a variation, – like dealing more than 10 cards in the blitz pile – but we haven’t tried that yet!We play “competitively” but not aggressively. We aren’t slamming cards, flinging ourselves across the table to discard first, bending every card in the process. haha! We are civilized, tired humans! It is fun, it does keep your mind engaged and focused on the game and even when we are super tired we can play and enjoy. It’s perfect. How did I not know about this game sooner? One thing I recommend is buying those rubber finger grippy things. The cards in this game are good, but for us within a few games they lost the ability to be gripped, dealing, sorted, etc. Our solution was using theSwing line -brand- “Rubber finger tips” “Finger cots” The rubber or rubber-like things people put on their fingers/thumbs when working in an office to flip through papers, etc. We each wear one on each thumb! (We bought this brand’s size 13.) You can get a box of 12 for less than $5 and they last a super long time. Fixed everything! We’ve now played dozens of rounds of this game and are still enjoying it. Definitely worth buying and we are so glad we did. You can get into a rhythm, a meditation almost. We are playing together but also can stay focused on our own doings. It’s fun! Recommended!

I was introduced to this game last Thanksgiving. We had fun with all the age groups around the table, and I didn’t even mind losing. It was so fun I have this out as gifts to nieces and nephews to play with their friends. Not hard to learn, but sometimes the play goes so fast with experienced players that I found myself with a whole stack of cards still while they blitzed! Negative point total for me, but still has us laughing the whole time.

We played this on New Year’s Eve at our church for game night to ring in the new year. This game was so much fun and easy to learn. I had to buy this game, my family loves to play games anytime. We play during holidays and play just because there is nothing to do. If you love a fast paced game, you will love Dutch Blitz!!!!!

  7. Kelsey Newcomer

What a fun game! The expansion pack allows up to eight players to play. Don’t hesitate on getting the expansion pack. You won’t regret it!

Such a fun game and the extension pack makes it playable by a larger group. Perfect for the ages stated.

I have always been a big fan of Speed, so I was excited when I found this fast paced, well made card game. If you combined Skip-Bo, Speed, and Solitaire this is what you would get. The illustrations are simplistic, but they only serve to add to the charm. The object of the game is to get rid of the “Blitz Pile”, your own pesonal stack of ten cards. There are no turns, rather, everybody races to play their cards in the common “Dutch Piles” in the center. You play cards from your hand in ascending order to Dutch Piles of the same color. The more cards you play, the more points you get. The more cards in your Blitz pile when someone runs out of cards, the more points are subtracted from your final score at the end of the round. These factors are what makes Dutch Blitz a truly engaging game. I am writing this of my own accord. Nobody is paying me, and I am no using AI.

We love this game. We constantly wear through the card (that’s how much we play). Can’t say enough.
