Description

The two rival spymasters know the secret identities of 25 Agents. Their teammates know the Agents only by their code names. The teams compete to see who can make contact with all of their Agents first. Spymasters give one word clues that can point to multiple pictures on the board. Their teammates try to guess the pictures of the right color while avoiding those that belong to the opposing team. And everyone wants to avoid the assassin. Code names pictures: win or lose, it’s fun to figure out the clues.

Top Secret Picture Game

A uniquely fresh spin on the classic word game!

In Codenames: Pictures, secret agents are now represented by an image that contains multiple elements—instead of a word. Two rival spymasters know the agent in each location and must deliver coded messages telling their field operatives where to go.

Operatives must be clever, however. A decoding mistake could lead to a run-in with an enemy agent—or worse, the assassin! Both teams race to be the first to contact all their agents, but only one team can win.

This is really a GREAT game for 4 or more players, any ages, any type of group. It’s easy to learn and so fun. We started with the Words version, and it took a littl adjustment to work with the pictures, but we really like it and I think we like the pictures better now! So fun.

Codenames Pictures breathes new life into the beloved party game, delivering a visually captivating and intellectually stimulating experience. With its vibrant artwork and clever gameplay mechanics, players view pictures, deciphering abstract clues to uncover hidden agents. The game fosters teamwork, communication, and lively discussions, challenging players’ linguistic and visual aptitudes. With endless possibilities from its vast card collection, Codenames Pictures offers outstanding replay value and is perfect for gatherings and casual game nights. It’s a delightful and refreshing twist on the original, ensuring hours of entertainment and memorable moments for players of all ages. I prefer this version of the game over the regular version.

We love Codnenames, but my daughter with dyslexia finds it a little hard to play with the rest of us. Codenames Pictures is perfect! Great family or party game!

The pictures only face one direction, unlike the original Codenames game with the cards being easily read from both directions. Also, the smaller grid of 20 cards to play from makes the game go incredibly fast, with the opposite team rarely getting a chance to play if your spymaster gives simple enough clues. It’s easier to give a clue that matches 4 or 5 agents at a time while avoiding the spy with this version. The players ages are 9, 11, 15, 19, 40, 43,and 46 and we only played 3 games before having enough fun. With the original Codenames, these same players will easily play 7 or 8 games before enough players hit their bedtimes and we call it quits!Anyway, still a fun game for a few rounds. Some of the pictures are hard to figure out what we’re looking at so spymasters really need to inspect the clues before pulling the card showing where the agents are. We ran into a couple hiccups where spymasters didn’t understand what was on a card until it was too late to ask.My only real complaint is that the pictures only face one direction, which was more problematic for the younger kids but also spymasters had a harder time hiding what they were looking for since it took a few seconds longer staring at cards to figure out what clues to give. I’ll keep it around but don’t expect it to get as much action as the original. The original gets played at least 4 or 5 times a day every day since we got it.
